I have enjoyed playing these for the past 21 years. Due to a tricky left shoulder that I hurt while working, I have been playing less. Here is the original description of the pipes I received from John Dennis of Ontario, Canada.
1928 Sliver and Ixxxx Henderson bagpipes. Due to death, a set of 1928 Henderson bagpipes are available, full Ixxxx mounts, ring caps, ferrules, original chanter with Ixxxx sole, and original blowpipe. Engraved silver slides added in the early 1950s by the owner, thistle pattern work done in Glasgow. 1960s blowpipe stock replaced with new blackwood stock, new white Ixxxx ferrule (blackwood piece work done by Jack Dunbar formerly of Henderson, Ixxxx by Hardie), along with the top section of the middle tenor replaced with new a blackwood piece, new Ixxxx ferrule and ring cap.Beautiful tone and excellent condition no cracks/warping in blackwood. Perhaps the original silver slides were engraved in the 1950s? Aarons competition set was from 1908 and Mr. We were able to swap reed around, and swap pipes around, and in the end these 1920s Henderson pipes won the sound and stability test over P/M MacDonalds bagpipes, and were very close to Aarons grade 1 completion set. In 21 years of my playing them, the only damage done was to the newer replacement tenor drone ring cap, which has a small crack. The last 2 pictures show it. It is the only crack in the blackwood or Ixxxx. Please let me know if you have any questions or need to see any pictures. They were in one mans hands for 69 years, and in mine for 21 years. You can be playing them for the next several decades! The item "1920's Blackwood Henderson bagpipes with natural mounts silver slides" is in sale since Saturday, November 2, 2019.
