This is an extraordinary set of bagpipes from Henderson circa 1950 to 1965. Their tone is fantastic and stable. This set includes all the sticks and stocks and blowpipe. Henderson on the drone cord beads. Silver slides are custom engraved.
Ivory bushes, caps, ferrules and projecting mounts are in great condition with excellent color, grain and finish. There are a few fractures present in the blowpipe stock but no cracks or breaks. There are a few very small nicks in the ivory but not noticeable.
The blowpipe and chanter stocks are in good shape, being oiled consistently to prevent deterioration from acids. The other stocks are in excellent shape too.
The bores in the drones are smooth and straight. This is a great set of pipes for the experienced piper or the piper who is wanting to upgrade to a more professional set of pipes. Included are stocks for the chanter, mouthpiece, two tenor drones and bass drone, blow pipe and mouthpiece and all the sections for the drones. I've gotten great results using McCallum MG "White" carbon drone reeds, EZ Drone Reeds and Crozier carbon fiber drone reeds. I've used either a McCallum or David Naill wood chanter for competition and had great comments on the tone of the drones with the chanter.
With the band we use McCallum Poly chanters and again have great reviews with this set of drones. Included is a poly case with special latches for heavy duty use. It is lined and padded. Perfect for holding this set of pipes assembled with bag and cords. FOR SALE IN US AND CANADA ONLY.Item is listed on multiple sites and may end any time.
