New Highland Bagpipe, African blackwood, made by CE Kron & Co
This beautiful bagpipe was made by me and is now for sale. It is made of African blackwood. It is half mounted with sterling silver ferrules and ring bands, African blackwood projecting mounts and bushes. The workmanship is as expected from my shop. The blowpipe and blowpipe stock are made of poly, and the ferrule and projecting mount match those on the rest of the pipe. As you can see, they are very well made with no ragged bits. Poly is very hard to work by hand. The pipe comes hemped, as shown. The ferrule diameters are smaller (except on the pipe chanter stock) than those on the majority of sets we used to make at my shop - 1/16th smaller. This allows me to keep the elegant profile of the stocks, and still make the wood diameter smaller, making cracking less likely. One year guarantee against cracking. This pipe is offered only domestically. I have heard that there are new regulations for sending African blackwood to foreign countries, and I don't want to run afoul of these regulations.
